Ezekiel 34: 23, 31 "And I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd." "And you are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, and I am your God, says the Lord God." John 1:29 "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."
These verses point up the contrast between the One who is both the sacrificial Lamb, who offers Himself as the bearer of the sins of the world; and the Good Shepherd, who says in John 10:15, "I lay down my life for the sheep." He became as one of us to become the means of our salvation.
