Genesis 3:15. "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."
God had created all things good, and God had created man and given him the task of caring for His creation. The serpent (Satan) offers man the fruit of the tree the "knowledge of good and evil", and man succumbs to the temptation to be "like God". God promises salvation in the form of One who will crush the serpent's head, but who will in the process, be bruised.
